22nd Jan 2009 - Tucked away in a housing estate in the back streets of Waterloo, The Stage Door is a pleasant surprise. You'd be excused for thinking it a locals only kind of place, but it isn't at all. It has a good sized bar serving a few bitters and the normal cold fizzy stuff, plus an unpresuming menu of proper pub food. No gastro pretentions here. Also featuring a dart board, pool table and live bands at somepoint most weeks. Next time you find yourself in an overcrowded pub on The Cut, do yourself a favour and pop round the corner and try this one out.

5th Oct 2006 - The Stage Door is so called as it is within stumbling distance of the stage door to the Old Vic theatre. It is a good honest, wooden floor and beer mats pub. A very good pint of London Pride can be found here. It has a nice informal atmosphere but can get a little cramped (rather than crowded) at busier times. A couple of big screens provide good coverage of sports fixtures and there are plenty of pub sports to keep you busy. Worth a look if you are in the area and after a couple of good pints.
