7th Feb 2013 - Now reincarnated as a Craft beer pub and 100 times better than The Gate (but that wasn't hard). Didn't try the food but it looked great and they had that freshly made bread smell wafting out to tempt in passers-by.

They need more chairs/tables. There seems to be a lot of wasted space in the middle of the pub..just created a slightly strange atmosphere. Plus the music didn't really fit the surroundings. But lovely decor, good service. Might have to go back to try the food.

6th Oct 2005 - They used to have 1 a pint night every Tuesday, and that used to be the only reason to go. Things got a bit heated on a few occasions and they pulled the offer after a few months. It's been well over a year since all that, and The Gate has improved ever so slightly. The pool table has gone, and with it the lunch time and evening pool playing lads. The food is pretty good in terms of quality and value and The Gate is now a good place for lunch. Window seats in the summer are a must, unless you are watching the big screen sport.
