From Wed 11th to 14th July including a 3pm Saturday matinee.

BATTERSEA RESIDENTS GET A LESSON IN LOVE - Local production team will create an experiential live theatre event which aims to explore why people advertise for love. What has changed and more importantly not changed, since the first lonely heart ad in 1695?

A local resident and her team are set to create a world of love, loss and longing in a vibrant experiential live performance. The Battersea Mess and Music Hall will host the event, the first time the venue has been used in this way. Involving over 50 actors, writers, directors, producers & set designers the production will explore and showcase the history of the lonely heart column, the comic and tragic of a universal quest: looking for love.

With more people than ever using dating sites, the team wanted to explore how advertising for love has developed since the first ad was placed in the Matrimonial Gaz

You're barred - the landlord's view

A former 18th century nursing home, Battersea Mess & Music Hall draws its inspiration from the working men's clubs of London circa 1930 and brings to Lavender Hill a modern if slightly sepia tinted take on a great British tradition.

Offering a full menu, real ales (8 pumps) and an eclectic array of spirits and wines to meet the most unusual or discerning palette, its the perfect venue to unwind after work, spend an hour perusing the sunday papers or bringing together friends for a saturday afternoon social.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our sunday roasts and along with the additional event space to hire (we host, amongst others, comedy nights, theatrical productions alongside the usual beer and ale promotional events), we ask you, what is there not to like?

15th Apr 2012 - A really great addition to the Antic group which gives you more than just an average pub.
I like all the stairs and corridors which lead to other rooms and areas.
The food menu looks great but haven't had chance to eat there yet?
I like their ideas and twist on the Sunday roasts.
The bar is slighlty to small but with the added side room and bar your not waiting to long.
The big selection of draft and real ales and beers is great and offerings in bottles also pleased me.
It's cute, it's fun and different and has lot's of protential, but I hear they have issues with the location of the main entrance and local residents complaints, which is a massive shame.
With a bit of work and a few thinking caps this pub will do well!!
