6th Aug 2012 - Its been a while since I last visited and its been spruced up a little. Looks smart and trendy whilst maintaining a relaxed pub appearance. The crowd is still fairly poncey but thats fine during the day. Downstairs is a stage where they have had an impressive array of comedians and a few bands that are less impressive. It had an ok selection of ales and i got to try 3 as every time we went to the bar they had run out of what we previously ordered. Must have been a very busy friday night. The food here is always pretty good despite the fact the kitchen looks smaller than most urinals. Decent place for a lunch time drink on a sunny day with some big windows letting in plenty of sunshine. Not the best crouch end has to offer but a decent pub I will return too.

17th Jul 2009 - excellent pub mixing a friendly, upstairs bar with a good drinks selection and a downstairs bar for special evenings. I go for "The Local" - modern folk music nights - which are excellent and well attended. If you are in Crouch End or environs an excellent choice. But yes - leaving is difficult, and cabs aren't all that frequent either...

23rd Jul 2006 - I went to a Thursday comedy night here, which is the night they have up to 16 amateur comedians take to the stage for 5 mins each. Very enjoyable. The comedy is downstairs, where there is a little bar. Upstairs is the main pub, with a mix of bar stools, small tables and a non smoking eating area. Quite dark and traditional looking inside, but appeals to the trendy Crouch End lot. A big feature of their menu is the 21 year old beef burgers (I opted for chicken). If you don't live in the area, be aware that getting here is tough - nearest tube is probably Finsbury Park but you need a bus or a hill climb from there.
