19th Jul 2012 - A great east end boozer. Go on a Friday or Saturday night for live entertainment (crooners etc). Slightly crazy bar staff at times and they still have ashtrays on all the tables for some reason. Gets very busy in the summer with people spilling out onto the grass by the canal. Open late Thurs-Sat (and maybe Sunday I think). A fun night out.

10th Oct 2007 - What a belter. Golden wallpaper, and a small stage in case Chas 'n' Dave pop by for a sing song round the old Joanna. The "beating heart of London", and that's official.

22nd Sep 2007 - What a cool pub. Tucked away, basically in the middle of nowhere, you get here either along the canal or walk up a residential road into a park (by Mile End climbing wall) and the pub appears to your right. It's exactly where you wouldn't expect to find a pub. Landlord was friendly and happy to chat and was pleased to see new faces. Live music is on most weekends. All in all a top top pub.
